ITP 94 Deployment
ITP 94 was the second ITP deployed during the MOSAiC expedition at distributed network site L2 from the Russian Research Vessel Federov. Conditions were covered sky, -7.8 C, 94% relative humidity, air pressure of 1020.9 kPa, with a wind speed of 1.3 m/s. The site was chosen and mapped out the day prior, all the holes for deployments were drilled as well. With all of the drilling completed the day before we were looking at an estimated four-hour deployment. The skies were grey and cloudy with occasional snowfall and fog limiting visibility. The ice was not very thick throughout the entire floe and the thickest we could find was about a meter.
This ITP was deployed as a part of the MOSAiC expedition Distributed Network, including an AOFB, Met Sled, Snow Buoy, and SIMB. During the ITP deployment, installations of the AOFB, Met Sled, and SIMB were conducted by different teams while other scientists surveyed the icefloe. Roughly four hours after operations commenced all of the gear was repacked and reloaded onboard the Akademik Fedorov.
